He has another video using burnt wood type charcoal and maple leaves. I know in fall in low water the creeks turn black with tannic acid. I have a bunch of hardwood bark available and I can find an old pillowcase to just toss. I also have all summer. I’m using the poly collars for snare supports and that’s why I’m reticent to boil. I don’t like paint stiffening them up either. Just something new to try.

I’m thinking that LT Grey did basically the same thing with his snares, and just soaked them in leaves , grass, and bark. And if I remember right, He highly recommended 1x19 snares, that were stainless steel! So if stainless takes a dye set, then regular cable should about disappear!
I put a hundred shiny new ones in a tub of bark, pillowcase and water. I’ll see how they look in a month or so.
A few days in water looking like coffee. I’ll try this with walnuts when they start dropping.
