Thought I’d better get new recruits
I never ask when I ordered them or
Picked them up from Southern States
I have an account and they bill me monthly
I’ve bought chicks for longer than I can remember and I’ve paid less than a Dollar many yrs ago
These were $5.20 a peace
I about well ya know what I’m implying
That is high but lucky you even got some this year. They’re sold out in all the hatcheries I’ve seen. I saw on Trapperman where someone sold some already laying for 40.00 each. Now that’s crazy.
There was a red lace wydot hen brought 120 something over at the yard in Stanford and I’ve heard hens bringing 40 to 70 consistently over there.

Daddy called around and they was sold out on all hatches till June in February.
We got two hens getting broody so we’ll have a few to eat regardless.

I tried like your saying to find some
And they had fliers out on delivery dates
I went in on the first delivery and tanks were empty I ask what’s up
People were standing at the door on delivery dates so they started getting them a day early
To get em in un boxed they still sold out
So they let me Special order for next delivery
Worked out ok
Colt I’m down to 8 and I had Broody hens to
And eliminate when have to
I’m concerned about introducing my new ones with old hens but I’ll figure it out
I lost my old tobacco barn
Use to have separate pens and I’d let em get use to seeing each other for a week or two
Paying that kinda money for a laying hen
I guess nothing should surprise me
