To catch 3000 coon on,young guy in Iowa hit 3000 yesterday, haveing all the roads be public ground, being in your early 20s and fur being cheap and not sought after is apparently the magic formula. Not saying that just enybody could do it but I beat it would have been tougher with all the 300,600 and 1000 guys out to compete with.
My hats off to him, hope I can just get on the river and trap before Feb 28th
Is that the guy on you tube that gos by Iowa trapper or something like that? I watched that guy and he’s got a lot going for him. He’s worked at it for sure
I Guess he’s on Iowa trappers talk his name is Luke.they was talking about it over there.
I’m thank he is on YouTube.
Yes he has worked at it hard
i think the one your talking about is Next gen trapper
seen this morning where has 3043 coon in under 2 months
The energy is more to have than the ground. When you get west of the big river the houses are way further apart and there’s huge huge agriculture. I think a hard charger is only limited by time and effort.
Yeah but even in your twenties all the energy in the world won’t make up for not haveing the ground or game…ask me how I know. I could have easily doubled my numbers by knowing what I know know but I could not have multipled them by 12 no way. And my area was allot more open back then.
I want to make it clear that I’m taking nothing away from him at all. He’s a great trapper and hard worker and all the pieces have fell together.
Even when I was his age, I definitely had the energy and time but I didn’t have the knowhow of orchestrating something that big not at all. I have a better understanding of it at this point in my life but still not sure I fully understand how you’d pull it off
I wonder if he’s in a state that allows roadside trapping? That would allow him a lot of access to all the drainages and creeks running under the road.
I can’t even imagine having that much access to ground! If I would have had that much ground when I was young and strong, I would have probably worked myself sick! … LOL! …
Now, these days, I’m too sick to even go at something hard enough to call it work anymore.
But I would be willing to try and find out if I could still make a good showing!
…Edit… Thanks for turning me on to this guys site! I had never seen it before. It’s obvious this guy is a Hustler! Did anyone besides me notice that the insides of his arms were all bruised, and beat up in one of his videos where he was checking and resetting?! It looked to me like he had a lot of little busted blood vessels too. I presume from all the squeezing of DP Springs, and cranking down of trap setters on the 220’s. I bet by end of the season he would have a grip like a vise, and could win most arm wrestling contest he ever got in on!
Yes Iowa right of ways are considered public land.
My family and me enjoy his videos. He has absolutely slammed them this year.
most of his traps are under bridges and around culverts.
he uses some dps, but most of his sets are fishstick sets with 2 traps at each.
last year i think he also caught 330 beaver
My 2 sons went out to Iowa a few weeks back to
Pheasant hunt a trip they will
Always remember
The Farm Land is incredible
My oldest son met a guy from out there and the Friendship grew
Miles and miles of agriculture
That young guy has to be a go getter to have those numbers
6x3000 is $18,000 avg
$10avg = $30,000
Plus what ever he catches I truly hope he has a buyer lined up and I’d say he does
I seen him also and he caught 300 beaver last year.
