Catfish trotline box question for Colt

I noticed a picture you had on here that showed your trotline box, with staging lines set into what looks like foam pipe insulation sleeves that have been held down flat with screws and washers. Is that what you use to make them up ? I was planning on trying to make a box or two to play with, but I was just going to cut notches in the wood. I can see how something soft on the edge would not fray a drop line as easy.

Notches was the old way and works ok but they don’t store or transport well tugs will get crossed over pretty easily.
I did use foam insulation but just for short term it ain’t the best eaither. Get you a couple flat rubber Bungie cords there what I’ve been using and they work well.

Theses are 18"×18" with a 4" or 4.5" side I believe, build mine outta 1x 6 oak plank you can use poplar or cedar or even dimensional pine from lowes I go for cheap, tough and heavy so they lay down better, I like the oak best.
I use 1/4" hardware cloth in the bottom.

Okay, Thanks for the info! I was just going to use plywood on the bottoms, but I can see how screen would shed water and dry things quick! And those flat rubber bungees are tough, so I can see how that would work well too! Thanks for the tips! I’m looking forward to trying this out!

Ok if you need eny other info, just let me know I can take picture or what ever.
Holler if I can help
