Coyotes and sweet corn

I had a person from church tell me that coyotes had eaten about 20 ears of his corn. I hadn’t heard of it but he said he found tracks and the cobs about 50 yds out from the garden. Has anyone had this happen or heard of it. May just be a new one for me

It wouldn’t surprise me at all, they’ll eat just about anything. A couple years ago my brother-in-law had a feeder out for deer and was getting pictures daily of a pair of coyotes eating corn. First I’d ever seen of that (nor since). Mother Nature has a way of telling an animal where the deficiencies are in their diet, even if it don’t taste good to them.

Yes I’ve seen it, there rough on it some times. I remember people talking about coon hounds getting into there corn as a kid. And my grandad talked about having a fox hound that eat a bunch of sweet corn for somebody when he was young and he had to pay them.
The farm I use to work at when the feild corn was in the milk the roads would get full of corn filled yote crap. And my wife’s pap in Carter county has a bunch of trouble with yotes in his corn.
I mean they gorge on mulberry and even locust when there in corn seems a natural next step.
I’ve had several dogs that would eat hard corn outta cow poop and feed throughs for that matter.

I know the yard dogs we used to have when I was a kid would chew on the cob after we cut the sweet corn off.

Coyotes are rough on watermelon too sometimes!

Slim Pederson says coyotes will actually take their pups into and live all summer in huge corn fields. Stacy caught one once full of acorns so I’d say sweet corn would be a treat.

It was actually full of hickory nuts crunched up. Stomach full and coming out the back end too.

Sweet corn growers commonly have coyote issues. Melons too.

Thanks, I forgot.

Yeah I’ve heard of the water melons. I can’t blame them for the hickory nuts.

I remember that Stacy I was there when you skinned it blew my mind
