Dakota line dip review

I’ve always wanted to try it so I got a gallon. Mixed with a half gallon of water and put in five gallon bucket. I’m pretty pleased with the color and coverage. The 1x19 cable may need another dip but it looks good and looks good on some cat traps that needed attention. I still have almost a gallon of the mix left for later.

It called for more water than that but I put less than a gallon in with it.

Thats good coverage for a gallon of product.

Don’t know about the durability yet but it looks nice. Paints, dips, everything is too high anymore. Plain old latex house paint thinned 50/50 with water isn’t bad,

Looks good

Looks like it left a really nice smooth finish. I like that look. Have to let us know how it wears.

The ambush dip works really good that micah had set up. Butnits running $60 gal. Ive been watchimg walmart when they mess up a tint and get it half cost. So far really like using paint on my traps.

I first got on to using latex paint on traps that same way. Local hardware had several gallons that were not picked up of mis mixed for 5.00 a gallon. I bought six or seven gallons. I painted my wife’s deer stand with some and watered down a couple gallons to dip 330’s in. The Rustoleum is 60 a gallon now and good quality vinyl paint the same. The Dakotaline was about 40 but it goes a long way evidently. I really like the brown color of it. I may go back to leaves, sumac or walnuts though for the cost. Trapping is more fun when you’re always experimenting.

We’ll actually that’s not true. When I was painting my house years ago with latex stain it dripped on my HVAC unit and stuck for years as well as a spot or two on my old S-10. Asked a guy in Wisconsin that said he used it and he did, watered down 50%. It does work good and seems to even improve snares making them slightly slicker besides knocking the shine off. I think I might even like it better than the dip for snares. I like this dip better on the traps for sure, first impression.

Ive been dipping my beaver footholds the last couple years. A mix of 40% oil base Rustoleum and 60% paint thinner. The paint is a mix of hunter green and black.

Good color

I like a green or brown trap for beaver and otter. They may not see as well as i give them credit for. But i do know they are easily educated and a black trap stands out alot more in clear water.

I don’t like black. On most of my water traps I wax them after they rust I like that color for blending in.

The black looks more like a blue purple to me.

Im running a od green on my traps, got a gal of a brownish green that was a markdown at walmart. My od green i get for 35 a gal at rural king. Cut it 50/50 with acetone or mineral spirits.
