My dad got drawn for a cow gun tag back in 06 or so and he pulled me out of school to go with him. It was a good time. He had put in every year since it opened and once I got around 8 or so he put me in every year too. I guess you can say that I put in for about 16 years and gave up. Dad still puts in every year. But I think the herd is in rough shape, we went bear hunting in Knott county about 4 years ago, the same county dad had elk hunted in, and we never seen a elk or sign of one in two days of dark to dark hunting.
As for the odds, there were 77,500 applicants put in for 500 tags. Y’all had a 0.64% chance of getting it. Greg, it’s truly a chance of a lifetime. And the best eating meat you can get.
