I just read a story of why men get grumpy as they get older. There was 18 symptoms, or causes as to why, and I checked the boxes on 16 of the 18! So I guess I have a legitimate excuse! Only thing the story didn’t touch on was how to get beyond feeling that way.
I find that I look forward to communicating with you guys, and reading what everyone says and thinks on a daily basis as much as anything! Seems like I am always in better spirits after checking in, and seeing what subjects are open for discussion on any given day! that, and being outdoors, just enjoying life, and prowling the woods and water as often as work, and these days, follow up Doctor visits allow!
I concur. If anything it makes me feel better venting to what I consider friends and find out I’m not entirely crazy and the only one that has these type thoughts pop in my mind. I think part of it is we’ve lived long enough to see socially acceptable changes we don’t fully understand that goes counter to the way we were raised and think. I sometimes wonder if every generation goes through this. Another thing I believe we resent as we get older, fewer listening to our opinion or having any respect for it. Heck, we’re the old sages right? I’m finding the less importance you seem to have the older you get, the less you’re listened to. Seems opposite to the way I always thought. Hey, there’s another one of societies changes
I use to think my fater in law was the grumpest ole so an so there was but now I understand it. I’ve earn it in putting up with the public for 40 yrs and such I feel like I’ve earn the right to be a little grumpy.
Funny, me and a guy I work with used to poke fun at a an older gentleman that we worked closely with 15-20 years ago. It seemed that the closer he got to retirement the more of a grouchy old fart he became. He didn’t want to learn anything new, technology was leaving him in the dust, he didn’t want to talk to people (especially on the phone), just wanted to come to work, stay for 8 and go home. That was funny to us as younger men but now 15-20 years later, I still work with my friend and we joke about how we are becoming the guy we used to poke fun at. We now understand where he was coming from…lol There are likely a few younger folks I work with that look at me exactly the way I looked at the grouchy old fart that has long since retired.
Weez, thats exactly how I become at work in the last couple years. I want to work my shift and go home. I dont want to come in on my day off for these meetings like im at today. I dont want to answer or make phone calls and I will go out of my way to not walk past the big wigs offices. Hopefully I can make it another 15 years. But some of the younger ones coming in now make it tough.
Was there an article about women and them getting grumpy?
That was one of 18 things that made Men grumpy !
There would have been a story about grumpy women ; If the guy who wrote the story about Men would have had enough guts to do it! LOL!
Maybe they will make a movie about grumpy old trappers!
That sounds oh so familiar!
I think they already have; It was the Mountain Men, with Brian Kieth, and Charleton Heston!
That’s true
I think just the old man filter gets bigger holes in it.
