Felt a cold coming on and Stacey mixed up a batch of this. Interesting flavor to say the least.
Hey Steve, I think it would be great if you or Stacey would do a presentation on some common herbal/old time remedies at one of our get togethers. I don’t know about anyone else but I find this stuff interesting. So much of this has been lost to time!
Excellent idea!
I agree with the suggestion of this
I have never tried it but have heard it talked about. It is truly amazing how good most herbs work when you give them a real chance.
It’s not hard to learn just takes a little time.

You know, a demo on preserving meat, with a recipe of the ingredients ratios, and how to work it into the bone areas, smoking time, types of wood , and so on, with all the tricks to make your own bacon/sausage, etc. would be very interesting I think. I know I would enjoy it!
I’m just a beneficiary taste tester from fire honey to fried dandelion blooms. The blooms taste surprisingly like morels and much easier to get. The yarrow and plantain salves work.
The reason there is a medicinal herb market is that they’re making stuff from the raw. I think we’d be better off just using the raw ourselves. More natural and definitely works.
Remember the old tv shows where they gathered herbs and made a poultice? Somewhere they were given the knowledge of what these plants did. We’ve gotten away from this largely just for convenience. There’s no artificial stuff added. I like that idea.
Ron Cauble, that recently passed away, was a big wild craft guy. It used to be a way of life. In this fast paced world it’s being left behind. If times really got tough, knowledge would be beneficial to have. I know bushwhacker on here knows the plants.
Thank you Steve just wish I knew more like the Indians and our ancestors did
