How many can remember?

The original “ It’s morning again in America”? I remember it.

I don’t remember that commercial. I’m guessing that was 83?

84 I think.

If there was ever a true Political commercial, that was it!
My Wife and I were dating in 82-83, and planned on getting married, IF WE COULD AFFORD TOO! Interest rates on a home loan was running around 20 % if I remember right. gas shortages, and higher prices on everything had been a real burden!
We found a couple of lots that we thought we could pay off in about 5 years, and found an older, but decent mobile home for sale in the east side of the County, and I paid for with cash for $2,000 . Within a year after Regan taking over, Interest rates dropped so much that we started looking for a larger Home after we got Married. We paid off the lots early, and we found a place at 12.5%, and a couple of years later, we refinanced at 8.25 % and considered refinancing again when it dropped to 6.75 %. But decided we wouldn’t come out any better once the refi, and closing cost were added up. But that’s how much of a difference it made from one President to another for an average person!
Elections have consequences, Good or Bad!

That’s kinda how the world looked when I gotarried and Obummer was in there. You know the only president we ever had that was born in Kenya,
I remember needing a job and everything around home laying people off and a bunch outright shutting there doors. That how I made it to the state insurance retirement And they pay me 9.40 and hour heck yes I’ll drive 36 miles one way!
Yes sir,a president sure can make the world look different to us "lesser " citizens!

It’s been 40 years but I’m having similar feelings of hope and optimism I had then. I first started job hunting in the early 80’s and they were scarce, for me anyway. By 1984 the whole country could see the turn around, it was so so obvious, with 49 states agreeing in the election. He basically just gave Mondale Minnesota and did not campaign much in Mondale’s home state. I got my lifetime job in 1985 and stayed with it. I’m really, really hopeful for the younger people with young families that things will get better. I believe there are MANY that are glad the last four years are over but something in them just won’t let them voice or admit it. They may have friends or family they think will chastise them when in fact they may too be glad too. If you are on the other side, give him a fair honest chance and I think you’ll be glad in a year and will see some turn around. Now, there are going to be some strife filled times that are coming. We need to stay strong and KNOW what’s right and wrong and stay with it. I can tell from watching the media that some didn’t get it and won’t ever get it.

I’m hoping and I really think things are going to get better.
There’s no way this country could have stood 4 more years like the last 4. It’s scary to think how it would be if the election had a different outcome.

Very true skinner. The fact she even made it that far and we are even talking about “what if” is gut wrenching. Thank God Trump won.

We had one of those wood panel sided station wagons. It was a 74 Ford. Who remembers those? They probably will never make a comeback.
