How’s my year going?

Well I’ll let this picture speak for my year
image

I’ve got this ridge covered 5 sets
That old rotted round bale has 2 sets one not far from this coyote
Always been a killer spot natural magnet

I put this camera up yesterday cause I felt after 4 or 5 days one set should have connected
I felt there wasn’t a coyote within miles
WRONG

This picture was taken at 6.50 am
This morning

You can see two rocks I hope in this picture

This deer surely smelled my set

I’ve got other deer checking my sets I’d say they smell the urine I used

Coyotes frustrate me

They are more frustrating in December! I have only trapped this week because of deer season, now I have to pull them cause of black powder season. Can’t seem to get a rhythm going yet. It will get better

Years ago deer season was basically over after modern gun days. It’s not uncommon now for some form of deer hunter to be out past first of year with the various crossbow, muzzle loader and youth seasons. I’m setting tomorrow on some places that aren’t supposed to have hunters but I’ll have full orange on anyway.

I’ve only got 3 sets out and they’re alll maybe 40yds off the road so makes for a quick and safe check for black powder season. Thumb at least you know they’re there you’ll get him

It was a big relief to know

Kinda hard to explain this ridge system
But I’ve got it what I hope is all corners and the entryway

My biggest problem is Patience I get so hyped up
And I love all aspects of it
The setting the traps
Anticipation of catching

Reason I say Patience

Had this young male this morning just down from
And across from my camera

And KyTrapper your so right about deer season

Nice catch looks well furred

Thanks Learch

He was fortunately

I’ve seen video of coyotes going right by sets several nights, then get a little closer. Then, maybe over a week later wade right in and get caught. They’re neurotic cowards. Weez, my rhythm just isn’t as good as it used to be. I feel like I’m dancing a Polka to Bon Jovi.

The best analogy I ever heard about a coyote working a set was when Locklear said they reminded him of a strung out crack head wanting to steal jewelry in a high end store, surrounded by witnesses, and security guards! … They are going to steal something! …They just have not worked up the nerve to do it on the first attempt!
