I been meaning to bring this up for awhile I been toying with building a swivel making jig. I thank I’ve got a pretty good design that takes the least amount of effort and tools build.
Start with grade stake the holes in them will already fit a 16 nail if you need them bigger you can easily drill um out, you can find a hardened rod to use but I figure nails are cheap and you can get a pile of swivels out of one before you need a new one I just clamp a pair of vise grips on it so I can pull it out.
Next you gotta have twister first one I made was a hand powered out of a chain saw wrench (cause I’ve got a bunch and I just wanted to figure it out without getting my welder out.
Enyhow you can made due with the hand model but I suggest building one for your drill. I used a 5/8" plug socket o found in my junk it still had part of the sticker on it. I used my grinder to cut a.notch on each side straight across from each other. Once you get. A wire on the jigg you can adjust the notches.
Know I and using number 9 wire and I’ve found that about 8" is good for this size wrap it over the top of you nail in the back left side wraps over right side wraps under.
using your notched socket twist it up
Drive and pull your nail out and you’ve got a swivel
Another tip is to go get you one of these mini bolt cutters they are great for cutting light chain heavy wire and I use them for cable too!.
Hope you guys find this useful
