Anyone use or recommend the one piece scope mounts for this rifle or better off going Leopold rings and base? I don’t trust my eyes and open sights as much anymore. I need to fix me up a dedicated 30 caliber deer rifle. I’ve been borrowing my daughters .243.

If you want to o make your marlin handle the absolute best with a a scope get a standard rail made for the marlin 336 and a set of weaver mounts theyll pot your scope right down low on the receiver and when you shoulder the gun you’ll be looking straight through the scope. That’s how my dad’s and mine and Chloe’s is set up makes target acquisition really fast.

Do you have to remove the back sight?
No mine is folded down, but that’s a 50mm objective
The only thing I might add is if you are using a newer style scope they are often shorter so be sure to get a scope rail that has mounting slots cut the length of the rail so that you can get your eye relief perfect. Colt is spot on too the lower you can mount the scope to the bore axis the better off you are.
They advertise a low profile one piece mount. I know the old “see through” mounts were very awkward to see through the scope. I don’t need to see through the mount, I’ll be using the scope. Was wondering if the one pieces were cheap or still set up too high.
I just wonder if this was a solid mount or better off with rail and rings.
My uncle has one that is for me personally too high and I don’t like it but they are lower than a rail and a standard type mount. The weaver mounts straddle the rail really tight and low. Depending on how big of a hurry your in I can bring my rifle to the spring meet and the one that my uncle has on this other gun and show you the difference.

Yes then get you a set of the low weaver rings.
These are the style mounts I use there calling them high but they don’t set high they set lower then the regular style what’s called low the screw that tightens sets in the notches on the rail
