I set several in anticipation of a creek rise today. If any otters are about they ought to stir.
Otter are roughly the same price as beaver, just a little more, but I get a kick out of catching them. Never thought as a kid when I started I’d ever get the chance to catch a beaver or an otter.
Yes this is good otter weather.
I remember hearing there was beaver at Energy Lake, at LBL back in the early 80’s. Next time I was over that way I rented a canoe at the Campground and paddled all over that area in order to see where they were at, and was amazed that we had beaver in the State again in my Lifetime!
Otters were undreamed of until they reintroduced them . Same thing with the Elk and the bears. I remember when the coyotes first started showing up around 1980. I remember the first one I ever saw, and it was running across an open field around mid-day up around Hustonville! As a matter of fact, just about everything we have now, we didn’t have back in the day! I just wish the gray foxes would make a big comeback!
I remember having very few beaver, and like you said otter was like a big woods wilderness animal that Id never get to trap.
Steve, I too paddled to the upper end of Energy Lake just to see a real beaver dam. I was amazed.
Colt, 50 mph winds tonight. What do you think?
I like wind and rain!
Me too. No otter catch today, four Beav and a rat.
