I’ve had really good luck with the Beeman .22 cal as well as the Gamo .22 caliber
Are they the pump kind or break down?
I visited a couple stores today but getting qualified
Help is non existent
Don’t know anything about pellet rifles, but from reviews on the net, The Gamo’s are suppose to be good . Ageing myself I guess, but back in the day the Benjamin’s had the reputation as being top of the line. Don’t know if they are even made any more. Seems like I saw someone using a pellet rifle on a video that had an air tank under the gun that you filled up with a compressor, and didn’t have a spring in it. He claimed it was very accurate. Wish I knew enough to help more.
I’ve did a lot of Sole searching on those
PCB air rifles
But I’m old school and confused how to get the air tank filled they have hand pumps but they say it takes a lot to get one up to the max load
Benjamin Marader in .25 cal would be neat
But I hesitated on cost
I also here there very accurate
my very first air rifle was a Benjamin
Shot a lot of stuff with it as a kid
Idk for sure what you are using them for but Walmart has a ruger that’s just a break down I used it for several years to dispatch critters and I squirrel hunted with it too make sure you get a good shock resistant scope for it tho cause for some reason air rifles are hard on scopes it will knock them off or even break the crosshairs
Both of mine are the break barrel ones. I’ve never been a fan of the CO2
Taulbee I’ve never been either and wouldn’t of even considered a CO 2 accept Rugar came out with one with a 10 shot clip semi auto
I appreciate the replies
I’m gonna do more looking into those mentioned
The beeman doesn’t use a main spring. It uses a gas tank that replenishes when you c#ck the barrel according to their website. Either way I know it shoots good lol
I have a 22 break barrel type pellet rifle. It’s never been a tack driver but fun to plink at targets with the grandkids
Taulbee what model is your Beeman?
Mine is a very hard shooting gun
Has a real riffle sound when I shoot it
Just can’t handle the inaccuracy when I need it
Not looking for a dispatch gun
Just a garage gun if I wanna hit a can
Or a varmit I can do it accurately
It has a scope rail but trying to find a pellet gun scope is difficult just for one
Why I think my sights get knocked off because of it
This is it. It has a .22 barrel and a .177 barrel. My parents bought it for me when I was around 12 or 13 and I still have it. It has a scope included as well as target sights. I bet you I killed 200 starlings over the years when I was a kid, I’d get up on the weekends early and shoot them out of the yard trees and barns. It’ll also kill a coon sized critter with no issue
I’m watching this with interest, I had heard everyone talk about how quiet air rifles were and all this so I bought a Ruger break action in .177. Well it shoots fairly well and is cheap to shoot but it is loud, louder by far than a 22 with shorts and sounds like a bomb going off compared to a 22 with a suppressor. Not that it matters where I shoot but I was just interested because people were talking about being able to shoot in their subdivisions and no one was the wiser, unless theirs are a lot quieter than mine their neighbors are either deaf or don’t care, if they are shooting it where people are around. What are your experiences as far as noise goes.
A guy down the road from me a few miles used to trap, and was good at it. He has quit it now, but when he was going strong I went with him on his line once, and he used an air rifle for dispatch. It was a Gamo if I remember right. It was very quiet, so much so, that I was very impressed with it ! I remember that it did a good job for him on a coon, fox and possum when I was with him. He said the only problem he ever had was with a coyote he shot once and after a couple of minutes, it got up and was able to eventually get away. After that, he said coyotes got double tapped and he never had any more issues.
