Shameless plug for my lure I’ll have at meet

I’ll have a few bottles of this at the meet, probably sitting next to Tandy’s Lures. I made this up and it’s had time to get sweet now. I wouldn’t peddle it if I didn’t believe it worked. I’ll have a sniffer bottle on the table.

Cumberland River Beaver Lure

Thomas Walker first named the Cumberland River in 1750 during his exploration of the area and its tributaries. When Daniel Boone later crossed over Cumberland Gap almost twenty years later and descended into Kentucky he was immediately in the basin of The Cumberland River. He would later cross the Cumberland downstream and spend quite a bit of his time in the drainage basin. I imagine many beaver were taken by him close by in those early hunting and trapping expeditions. I have been making and using this lure for 25 years with very good success. I have taken numerous beaver and several bobcats with it. All castor used in this lure is from the Upper Cumberland River Basin beaver that were caught, processed, blended and aged by myself. There are no useless fillers in this lure. It is very heavy on the castor. It has a high quality fixative and enhancer in it that makes it smell sweet and holds attractiveness to bobcats, fox and coyotes. It is blended to both linger and dissipate well when used and it will put a slight sheen on the water surface for them to follow to your set. On a fisher and marten trip to Maine we used it very successfully in those bait boxes. Many of those caught had my castor smell on them as they’d crawled over the stick applicator in the box and a couple even had the stick in their mouths. It has been tested and proven by several other Kentucky trappers besides myself. I am confident this lure works well if you do your part. There are many fine beaver lures out there and pelt prices are good. If you’d like to try one with a traveling stranger castor smell from southeastern Kentucky where Daniel Boone once roamed I believe one bottle will well more than pay for itself. Thank you.

Ps. I am not a nationally known lure maker or trapper but I have been a trapper for 50 straight years. I would not try to sell this lure unless I KNEW it worked. This is not just simply ground castor. Each batch takes 6-8 months to be right. It has a deep, sweet undertone, from the added fixative you will detect that is different than just ground castor. I caught over 200 beaver last year and these are the castors from them. I do not buy castor and I make a limited amount of this lure each year. I am only selling what I think I won’t need for my own use this coming season. Shipped to you in four ounce packer bottles which are unbreakable and ride comfortably in your pocket. Thank you for looking.

Love the Marketing/advertising on the lure! If you had a poster with a picture of you with your catch from last year, or the barn shot from years ago, and a sort of faded picture in the back ground of the poster of Daniel Boone, or a guy in buckskins wading in the river with a beaver, or a trap in his hands, I believe you could compete against Locklear! …If you wanted to go that route of course!

I’ve already found out I’m not smart or rich enough to be a lure maker. I do have a foldout board with a collage of trapline pics I’ll have on the table. I have enough knock around knowledge to have several gland lures on the shelf but glands, unless you buy them and they aren’t cheap, are a limiting factor. This years batch of cat gland I already sold out of what I want to let go without cutting myself short. I have some coyote gland and cat/coyote gland mixed and cat/otter mixed that’s several years old. I have three direct copies of Dirk Millers beaver lures that all caught last year but I’m not selling them. This one I’m bringing is a good one.
I have a couple of rattlesnake based lures too.
My hats off to those lure makers that can keep consistency. I have made cat gland twenty times and it’s a little different each time.

I won’t be able to make it due to a project at work changing shot blast hoppers out and rewiring them this weekend. If anybody will be there from up my way and wouldn’t mind to grab them for me, I’ll take a 4oz bottle of your cat lure and the beaver if you’ll have both. I can send you a check through the mail or PayPal if you have that.

All I’ll have is the beaver/cat castor type lure.
