Was surprised, disappointed and mad to find four of my new Rudy’s had got up and left during the night.
I was trapping in a small pond and had taken three beaver out of it.
When they were discovered missing I started canvassing the neighborhood. I guessed right, nearest house to the pond, could have seen me and was the most obvious stop.
Knocked on door, little, immediately assumed dope head came to door.
“ I’m looking for a trap thief, know anything about it?”
“No sir” straight faced. I could tell he was lying.
“Look, I just want my traps back and we’ll forget it. I don’t want to involve the law if I don’t have to”.
“I don’t know anything about it”, straight faced.
“ Ok, I’ll be back with game warden. I’ll charge you with theft over a hundred and I know the judges in this county”.
About an hour after I left he sent his wife to neighbors house and she left my traps on his porch.
I wasn’t about to let over a hundred dollars worth of traps walk off without pursuing them.
I left a message with game warden but haven’t heard from him. I told him later message never mind, I had them back.

Had to send the wife cause to ashamed but glad you got them back.
I’d like to have seen that dude in one of those Rudy’s.

The fact that a guy would get a couple of years of jail time for dealing with things the old fashion way is all that keeps a lot of people out of the Hospital I think!

I was expecting grass and debris filled traps and tangled up cables but the traps were folded nicely, clean and the cables rolled up with them.
Probably making them look good for the flea market ! You got there just in time would be my guess!
I’m betting trade for pills before flea market. But probably had a deal lined up before they were lifted. Of all I’ve set this year I would have thought those the safest from theft.
