Man that looks like a good time. If the UTK wanted set that up again, I’d gladly make contacts and knock on doors! I wouldn’t mind the legwork involved at all.
I hadn’t seen that in a while glad you posted it.
That’s the kind of publicity
UTK needs especially on Ky Afield
All I’ve seen is the coon hunters
And squirrel hunters
Maybe a one man band wagon
But that’s a memory that will last for a long time
That Jeremy Taulbee guy sure looks like a rough cat, y’all will run with anyone won’t ya?.
We started calling him “Hollywood” after that trip.
We all gave him a hard time too. He’s my cousin, older than me by about 12 years. He got me in to coon hunting a couple years after I had gotten in to trapping, then he got out of coon hunting and took a interest in trapping, I had done it for about 6 years at the time and I loaned him books and videos and took him out on his first line. I’m wanting to say 2012 or 13. His first set was a dirt hole that he caught a red fox in, a coyote killed that fox and I caught him in my scent post set about 30 yards down down the field. Then he got to running with Robbie Hoover and took to it like a moth to a flame. I used to live to trap and then in 2016 I got married and had kids and starting working 7 days a week and trapping took the back burner but I can’t take it anymore, this is the year I’m getting back out there with the kids beside me. He ended up being a better trapper than I ever was.
You go through stages in life. Those first years with little kids are the ones you slack off the fun stuff. Just don’t never come back though. It’s easy to not do things the older you get. Tell Jeremy I asked about him. He didn’t make the spring meet.
I worked on a bridge in Bourbon co. Last Friday and Jeremy came out to help. He had some trouble last winter said he never set a trap. He said his son went to prom spring meet day and thats why he didn’t come.
So is Terry your uncle he trapped years ago I know. My dad worked with and got to be good friends with Terry we would trade beagles and rabbit hunt with him quiet a bit. I did some taxidermy work for Jess too. Ain’t talked to him in awhile, thats how I first met Jeremy.
Yes sir, Terry is my uncle. He used to be big in to beagles and all of my uncles and cousins would come down to the farm my dad owned every thanksgiving and we’d rabbit hunt all day together. He got out of them quite some time ago and stopped hunting all together. He does quite a bit of fishing still. My dad trapped too back before I came along, that’s how I ended up getting started in trapping, I was 12 and found a few 5 gallon buckets full of old Victor #1 long springs, 110 conibears, and a dozen or so Victor square jaw #2 ‘s and got to asking my dad about them. He said he used to make more money trapping coon, mink, and muskrat a day than he did a week working. He showed me how to set them, told me to wire them off with some wire he had in the barn and sent me on my way. My stash of traps went from about 75 or 100 traps down to probably 10 those first couple of years but I did learn a lot from it. Those traps hand in the shed now and won’t be set again, just relics to remind me where I started.
Who is that?
O’l Hollywood!
Jeremy’s air mattress lost all the air on the head end that one morning, feet up in the air and head and shoulders on the concrete, had to shake my head
