Waxed dirt ratios

Who here makes their own wax dirt? I was wondering of a good ratio for doing 5 gallons at a time. Thank you

3-3.5 cups of wax per gallon of dry sifted dirt. Thats around a pound or just shy of wax to a gallon of dirt.

This basically the method ive always used and its.worked great. This year i acquired a concrete mixer to try.
If you’ve never used waxed dirt, it goes fast.

That’s the ratio I used I do it in the oven in Turkey roasters.

I got me a mixer this year as well. I have used it last year. Just always made mine in smaller batches. I’ll try that method in the morning. Thank you

Do you blend your top trap bed with anything

I’ve used waxed dirt before but always felt it stood out?

I’ve always done a thin layer of the dirt that is around that set just to blend it in a little. Never had one freeze on me from doing that.

It’s been years since I’ve made wax dirt but it always amazed me how well it works. Gives you confidence in the nastiest conditions.
