Not a thrill to knock of mud and clean leaves and pine needles out of them but necessary. Putting in separate milk crates to sort out and I might go ahead and wax them in a few. It’s a long time until season in a way but in another way it isn’t. Things you put behind you you’re not rushing around in October. Anyone else messing around with traps yet?
Would love to be but I only have a couple hours in evening and the weekend. Those free times are spent working on getting my shop ready to move in. If I was retired like some people, I’d have lots of time to work on traps and projects too…
Weez, you would think that one would have endless spare time when they are retired, but I don’t know how I ever had time to go to work with all the things that come up that require attention. Now don’t get me wrong these things are generally much less stressful that going to work but I sure don’t seem to have much down time. But it is a blessing to be able to help others out who are in need of help.
I’m cleaning off and cutting off the wolf fangs. I don’t know exactly what I’ll do but that makes me have to do something else. I’ve had failures, bent fangs and not setting good with them. Going to do something different when I stake. I’ll figure it out sometime this summer.
I’ve been cleani ng and straighting up the shed. I’ve had things thrown all over the place and such so now I’m down to the traps. Cleaning and putting away.
The one saying I remember from my papaw the best is “ The hardest part of any job is getting started”. I’ve found the older I get the harder to get started but when I do and finish I’m always glad. Setting traps is the same way. It’s easy to convince yourself to not fight the elements or something. I let the old man in a bit last year. Need to change that.
That’s what daddy always said too
