What do you do when you loose motivation
According to what it is Chuck. Take time away from it and assess the current worth to you. In my case, switching meds sometimes helps. I’ve had some dips and valleys in my life mentally.
I read a mink book long ago the author suggested working out before season. I didn’t get it then but do now.
I lost motivation with my job and decided it was time to quit and I haven’t regretted it one second.
If I may ask ?
Motivation with Life or trapping
Its important to know even though we have not met
We care and just be honest so we don’t
Mistake the two
As far as trapping and hunting I always go back the the basics, just do what I like “mink” and otter then work my way back from there. Never a bad idea to just take a full break and do some hunting or fishing.
As far as life I find praying and focusing on my relationship with Jesus help center me and I find motivation again.
But I’m young and relatively healthy so it may be easier for me. I’ll let you know in about 40 years if these things still work for me.

That can be a hard pill to swallow, no matter what aspect of life a guy is feeling unmotivated in.
If it’s something like trapping/hunting/ outdoor stuff, a lifetime of being out there competing against others, or testing yourself against the elements, or achieving a goal of catching x numbers or species of critters, there has to come a day in every guys life when he says that’s it; I’ve got nothing to prove to myself or anyone else, I’m ready to call it quits! That can be satisfying I suppose, or it could be like when Alexander the Great looked back on all he had done, and all the lands he had taken, and it’s said he wept, because there were no more Worlds left to Conquer !
Now if it’s Life in General, I think we all go through different stages about every seven years or so, and sometimes your ready , and sometimes your not! I remember a few years back, I thought I was going to stress out to the point of just shutting down due to Family Issues, unrealistic Job demands, a Back stabbing co-worker, and jealous Boss who tried to make themselves look better by trying to make me look bad, etc.
Bottom line is, it’s okay to be unmotivated sometimes, as it may just be Natures way of forcing a guy to step back, take a breather for a while, and just take care of you for a change! No shame in talking to someone like a Doctor, Clergy, or a trusted friend if things seem overwhelming . No shame in asking for something like a trial run of a medication to perk you up if feeling blah either. With all that’s going on the World these days, it can be tough to stay upbeat at times! Taking time off from the daily grind for a while, and trying new things may be just the ticket to make things go smoother going forward! … I hope you get back to a brighter, and more motivated future!
Wise words, and Great advice!
I’m like my get up and go has already got up and went.
Trapping
Thank you for the words of kindness andi.will do as suggested
Just go back to what you find fun,rat cats coon enythang. Maybe use some really old stock traps maybe only blind set what ever interest you just do that small scale for a bit. Or go squirrel or rabbit hunting net some fish enythang maybe all of it. You’ll get back in the mood.

I lost motivation today with the land sets I had out. Took em up. I intended to go longer but the loading and unloading the UTV plus bumping into some guys parked over two traps rabbit hunting plus dogs barking at me everywhere I moved got me slightly agitated. I think I’m going to go play in the water a while.
I still don’t think predators are into winter mode or they are having their December indifferent mood.
Steve, maybe the critters are having a hard time getting motivated too?
I lament, things are different than they used to be, with the animals. Doesn’t seem to be any consistent nightly travel. I’m not seeing much sign at all either. I’ve always honestly said I look at a lot of empty traps land trapping anymore.
It seems in Feb. the coyotes start getting more desperate but they look half plucked.
Cats are at their best then.
I remember beagle and coon hounds getting after greys all the time. When we went calling thats what we targeted daddy even bought a 22 mag just for calling grey fox.
I dreamed of catch fox someday and reds where a real trophy just was not many around home. But about the time I got in the position to be able to trap they all but disappeared. There was a little population boom around the time I was trapping full time then they disappeared pretty big until recently. I did get to catch several in that time though and even 4 in 1 check once.
I wish I’d have been around for fox only and not yotes that woulda been a dream for sure.

I remember here plenty of fox only. No beavers, no otter, no coyote, no bears, no deer hardly,no cats hardly and protected, no turkey, no armadillos.
Thanks colt
Chuck, you’re getting ready to switch it up and get enthused.
Thanks colt
