What is the biggest coyote y’all have caught?

We don’t have a lot of big fields here a few hays fields mostly and pastures ! A lot of old strip mines! A lot of rough country

In my opinion and experience having trapped both types as my country is a mix as well as having trapped in a few different areas the timber roads cut overs and small pasture/hay country takes more traps to cover.
I always set heavy in that type country. Set set set and then when you thank youve got it covered you’ll find two more places that need a trap.

It’s been my observation that yotes travel in a linear direction and they just simply don’t always hit ever intersection that timber country has to offer. They roll through in a sweeping manner.
So thats why there’s need in more traps. In the open country they travel the same way but they’ll gravitate tawords points and intersections I believe cause it offers a little cover and is a bearing by witch to travel and hunt.
Start you some dead piles and then set traps where the yote sign shows up you’ll be able to narrow down the travel ways like that.

Thanks for all the information I appreciate it

At this time of year, snares are great if you know what trails they run; or where fence crawl unders are. If using a trap, I think a flat set , with a little gland lure and urine is good. imagine a trap set in the ground, with a clump of grass, or a small chunk of wood , or rock about half the size of your fist on each side of the trap, about10-12 inches from the jaws to the objects. A little lure on the trap side of one object, and a little urine on the other object; again on the side facing the trap jaw. make sure its got anti freeze mixed in with the trap , and bedded solid. Only go close enough to see if it’s been thrown until you make a catch. Good to go!

Mr tucker I’m 6-4. That coyote was fat and sassy. Teeth were worn to nubs. It was good one though and I got it tanned.
