Who has cut out their tv?

We recently changed providers and it’s the same old story. I’m sort of addicted to the news but I think I can live without it. It’s just too high for what it’s worth anymore and I can get news on the iPad. I’ve gone through periods not watching the tv and it gets easier quickly. The days certainly seem longer without it.

We cut out dish/Direct several years ago due to garbage programming, and constant price increases. My Wife streams programs from her phone to the TV, and she watches programs that she selects, and wants to watch. I hardly ever look up at the TV anymore. I generally just hop back and forth from site to site on the computer; and if I ever want to check the news, which is never, I can do it on that.
Don’t miss the news at all, as it’s all designed to shock, discourage, and push a Communist at it’s core agenda!..(Whew, I sound like an old person!) LOL!
And, if it’s actual reporting on something that has happened, or will happen, 999 times out of a 1,000 there isn’t much I can do about it, as it has already happened, or is beyond the scope of my influence, or ability to effect the outcome.
I use to enjoy watching things like the History channel, National Geographic, Myth Busters, etc. But as time went on, you couldn’t get anything decent to watch, and if you did, you had to keep paying more all the time for it; so we pulled the plug!

We haven’t had TV service in years, when it got to where you got 18 minutes of commercials and 12 minutes of show in a 30 minute block and they just kept raising the price we turned it off, anybody remember when cable TV didn’t have commercials and that was their selling point for paying for TV service. We don’t miss it at all, we watch movies through the internet and get out news from there and the radio. When I stay in a hotel for some reason or the other it just confirms what I already knew that there is nothing on the TV worth watching anyway.

Beyond the scope of my influence is a good way to think about it. What’s going to happen will whether I watch and have an opinion anyway. I have a theory that I’ll read more without tv and that has to be better anyway. Now, on to getting rid of half my phone cost……
I’ve noticed the girls don’t watch tv a lot of times, just want the noise on. Reading together would be a better investment of time for them too.

I blame Becker; the always agitated Doctor that used to spout off to his friends about the Worlds problems at the coffee shop! … I think I must have been raised in his neighborhood! LOL!

Lost our TV in a house fire 1/14/94. Never replaced it. We had bought a Sears TV/Record player/Stereo in a cabinet. Old folks will remember those. Added a VCR player for the family treat , Lost it 3 weeks later with a chimney fire. Never looked back. Father-law died 10 yrs ago ,we took his TV but you needed a box to get channels, wife tried dish for 30 days. Canceled that quickly. Now it is just youtube movies and fox news. Have a small weather radio solar powered for weather updates. 850 foot driveway and I like the end of it. Wanted to install a gate to keep people out but the mrs will not let me.

We’ve had dish 30 days and went round and round with them. I’d say it’s about to be canceled. The truth is just not in those people. They’d do better being up front and honest about billing and what they will and won’t do on programming. It’s time to just further simplify life and get rid of things that aggravate you.
