Hey Brian, if it isn’t too much trouble post pictures of what you dig with the leaves spread out to help in identification. Thanks in advance

All I’ve ever noticed is in ginseng type woods but that doesn’t mean much. The black cohosh too. Well, yellowroot too. Brian is the one to definitively answer.

I made a major blunder 10 years ago. Had nice 'seng patch on the farm. A cow-worker want to learn about it. So I took him for a walk. A couple weeks later I was informed the guy bragged about how he and his son found a big patch to dig. And sure enough on checking mine was gone. Most of it , even the young stuff. NEVER SHOW YOUR SENG!!!

Never show ginseng or mushroom patch or arrowhead cliff in my past experiences. It’s hard enough keeping ginseng if you work and the local diggers don’t. I had that too.

Mom and dad have a small place where I plant seng. I add seed every year the place next door sold and the new owners rent it out on the weekend. Never had a problem before. Somebody dug my stuff that was almost ready and several 2 or 3 yr plants last fall. I know it was a renter were fixing to have a falling out soon as I see them next.

Well drained I have found it dry and rich places both but I generally prefer to look in the richer greener places

Pokeberry root and cocklebur root worth anything??? Have lots in PA

Poke is not sure on the other

Last time I sold burdock root I dug and dug dried it out sent it off and my check was for a dime!!!
No it was more then that but not much.

That would suck I’ve never sent any off I always took mine to a buyer and knew what it was bringing before I even went

I’m contemplating digging some yellowroot later in the year. I like the smell of it.
